It seems humanity is constantly at war with something or someone. Be it religious conflicts, scuffles over land, or just irritation, fights break out everywhere over anything. I always wonder why we can't just get along....
There are so many defects we carry though. Self-esteem issues, I think, are the most common but there's no shortage of those people striving for success at all costs, racists that defy all logic, and people who are just THAT unhappy. All these battles have something in common - casualties and survivors.
How does one person survive and others fall? It probably goes back to our differences. We all process situations differently. We handle challenges differently. We deal with setbacks and success differently. With all that, given our supposed intelligence, we should be able to recognize and react in a positive way. And yet, we still feel like a victim at times, and, we may be blind to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We may even have FOUND success, but wonder what we should do next. So many issues...
It seems to me the hardest realization we have is recognizing that we HAVE to power to overcome just about any difficulty that happens our way. We don't need to have Dr Phil tell us we are screwed up. We don't have to pay Tony Robbins 3 easy payments of $39.95 to make us feel better about ourselves. We might feel better by having Oprah tell us to do this or that, but I generally think we could heal ourselves if given the confidence.
When one is TRULY comfortable in their own skin, we might still make mistakes but we accept them as one of the possibilities. We may get lied to but we do for others because we WANT to and if someone messes THAT up, they just won't be able to do it again. We can't be taken advantage of that way. We also care very little for the opinions of others if they are commenting on our look or our life. We accept what we accept and do something about what we want to change. It really IS that easy once you look in the mirror and truly like what you see and have pride in who you are. You don't have to be PERFECT, but you DO have to be striving for a better you... forever.
It's not a magic pill or a best-selling book or even a phone number to call for support. It's all YOU. All you have to do is believe and you will see.... Once you DO, no one and nothing can bring you down for long.
Do YOU believe?
