I'm writing to you, not to ask of anything, but to let you know that everyday folks have Tesla on their minds.
Granted, I am and have always been a “car guy” and stay up with the latest news and rumors as much as any enthusiast. The Tesla 3 ORDER FRENZY recently confirmed to me (and MANY skeptics too!) that electric vehicles have a place in TODAY'S automotive landscape, and NOT just a statement of the wealthy that they care for the environment.
I drive a VW Gli, a car that I bought used for a good value and enjoy every time I drive it. In the past, I have had a new Boss Mustang, Acura TL, and many other vehicles in my 35 years of driving. My lottery dreams include a warehouse-full of many cars, including a complete electric car collection, of course including charting Tesla's history! I have never driven any of YOUR cars but am sure it would be a memorable experience. I had the pleasure of a BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf drive in the past and enjoy the greenness plus the power and quietness that epitomize electric power.
I am planning a last-great-trip with my Mother this year and in one of my many internet meanderings, I stumbled on your charging network. It got me to thinking if I was choosing ANY car to make this memorable excursion, it would be a Tesla. The network allows for most of the route we plan on taking and in those rare areas of no superchargers (Memphis is one...) I am sure we could make do with alternative means. The journey isn't based on the destination however, so including a “filling station” would be part of the fun!
This epic drive will last for a few months, cover over 8,000 miles, and hopefully, Mom will enjoy the sites along the way. She has diminishing memories, a slower pace, and a lot less endurance than she used to just a few years ago, so this odyssey will have to happen sooner rather than later. I will have my eyes on the road but my mind will be imagining the same roads in the comfort of a Tesla!
Although I don't have a Roadster, Model S, X, or even a 3 on order, thank you for letting me dream that, one day I WILL make the cross-country trip - electrically - a reality.
Thanx again for building a dream car that no one was dreaming about!
