It's hard to believe that number.
Rumor has it that if you lined up all
those folks hand-in-hand, they would stretch all the way to Mars....
or is it that they must BE from Mars???
Either way, I'm humbled that so many
folks have visited, on their own free will or because threats and
intimidation. I've asked many people for their opinion and have
gotten everything from polite answers to actual fandom.
Unfortunately, when someone admits to not-hating the words that
appear here, they disappear quicker than the witness protection
program can approve their application for relocation.
As I look back, I've written about
steps on the way to this journey. The first 5000 I wrote about
[here]. It took 44 months to get to that level.
The next posting that I featured the
count was at 6000 [here]. It only took 3 months to get there and I
looked back at the topics that generated the thousand visits and
tried to give a bit of the inspiration behind them.
The next time I brought up the Grand
Total was at 12000 [here]. I did a similar review but shock was
obviously still having an effect on me. How could so many folks look
my way for entertainment???
So now I am looking at 20,000 and I am
still as humbled as my first 100.
I want to stay interesting enough to
keep growing, and almost 200 postings haven't even begun to dent the
pile of stories started. I have so many ideas but not always the
inspiration to complete them. It isn't a LAZY thing. I have proven to
myself long ago that if the words don't spill onto the page, I can
squeeze them out, no matter what I do. I have tried to do it more
than a few times but the result is NOT readable in my eyes. Since I
do this to MY standard, I tend to reject those pieces that are
forced. I haven't fired me yet though...
The speed of going from 10,000 to
20,000 was unimaginable. Only 18 months and 57 posts to do what it
took 48 months and 136 to get to the first 10,000.
I wrote about cars, relationships (not
so surprising!), movies, guns, TV shows, compassion, sonhood, and my
own obituary. I mentioned a few people, from the happy (Zach's Shack)
to the sad (Robin Williams and Stuart Scott). I was most proud of how
my story “... names were changed...” turned out. I still enjoy
it. I finally tackled racism in [here], which was a long time coming.
All in all, a successful set of stories I hope keeps one reading more
than they thought.
What's coming up in the future? I am
toying with the idea of writing fiction and posting a chapter at a
time here. I want to write more about cars, people, circumstances,
and positive change. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to
let me know.
I just hope I can keep you coming back....
