FEAR - WHY NOT TO FEAR IT

I've had the experience recently to think about the concept of fear. Specifically, someone not going through with something because they were fearful of the end result. The surprise was, this person is very smart and deep-thinking. I had a tough time relating because I can't imagine that the unknown can be so scary. Completely avoiding something due to what MIGHT happen seems more of an excuse than a reason.

It's been my belief that, if you think about a situation from all angles and make a decision based on possibilities and benefits opposed to the costs and negative outcomes,  it's easier to go forward and take a chance. Kind of like speeding..... You can go OVER the posted limit, but understand what happens if you get CAUGHT! If all along, I am weighing the risk/reward and it DOESN'T go as hoped, I can still see the benefit of trying and not wondering for the rest of my life "What if?" That, I think, would be the true tragedy.

We all have things we are uncomfortable with or try to avoid. That's human nature. Riding your first roller coaster. Tasting your first vegetable, as long as it's NOT brussels sprouts! Playing your first team sport. It all is scary but the upside is soooooo much fun, plus the NEXT time you have a situation, courage will be easier to find. Can you imagine if you never took your first step and didn't get to experience new things?

What could be the down-side? Failure? Pain? In comparison with how much joy could be felt.... forever.... the risk kinda seems small to me. Yes this was a relationship issue. No one wants to start something that may end up as another breakup, but if you go in to it with that mindset, aren't you REALLY dooming it before it has a chance???

....but WHAT IF.....

Would YOU want to take the chance on losing out on a great last love?
