Mom never thought of it as such a big deal back in the day, although we tried to make her feel special. She already is a focus 100% of the time NOW, so does this holiday mean anything to her?
Of course not.
She doesn't know -
where HOME is.
the year, the month, the date, the day, or the time. the meaning of a holiday, even her own birthday.
the name of her only child.
how to go to the bathroom (most times)
how to bathe.
how to get dressed.
how to use a fork (some times)
too many words that form complete sentences.
much of anything in the past, recent or distant.
So what's the light at the end of the tunnel???
The next really good day.
The next smile.
The next laugh.
Luckily, it still happens very often.
I hope everyone enjoys the memories or realities of their mother today... And tomorrow.
