MY MAGIC TIE

I have a magic tie.

Well, it MUST be! I had too many compliments on it to believe it DOESN'T have some magical powers...

I don't remember the exact day, but I bought this tie years ago and the compliments rolled in immediately. Young ladies or older young ladies seemed to notice THIS accessory more than any other one I wore. And I wore a LOT since my daily uniform was a suit.

Of course, I went overboard on clothes during this time period. I bought nice suits and of course, you HAVE to have a variety of shirts, shoes, ties, tie chains, suspenders, belts... the list is endless. OK, maybe NOT endless... it kind of stopped right there.

Anyway....

Needless to say, I had a bunch of work clothes.

On a trip to Seattle, I once spent waaaaaaayy more than I should have on clothes, even buying a tuxedo! I went in with a budget of a few hundred dollars, and walked out with a bill for ten times that! I guess everyone deserves at least ONE shopping spree in their life, right??

Wherever I lived,  an entire second bedroom was turned into a closet. Almost everyone who saw it was jealous! It WAS convenient, and made putting away laundry an easier task.

The Magic Tie caused one of the strangest situations I ever remember, as well.

Take, for instance, the time I went in to a Dr office to see a customer. As I was walking in, I noticed a guy hobbling out, his head was half-wrapped in bandages. My first thought was, "Poor guy" as he slowly limped along towards me. As we passed each other, he looked at me and said, "Nice tie". I was more than stunned.

Here is this young man, obviously had some kind of traumatic experience (I later learned it was an accidental gunshot), and he felt strongly enough to compliment a stranger passing by. It had to be the tie....

I have others I like better, outfits I THOUGHT looked nicer, colors that seemed better on me, yet this one specific tie made folks notice more than all others combined. Magic or .... ?????
