BLACK HISTORY MONTH

It's February already, so that means it's another month closer to spring, another Valentines Day to suffer through, and of course, Black History Month.

There is quite a difference of opinion as to the merits or usefulness of this celebration, but, as a fellow human being, I want to know the why's, what's, and who's and focusing attention for a month out of the year is not asking too much. Seriously, Columbus STILL gets a DAY for...... ???

I won't tell a tale or point you in any one direction. There will be an avalanche of information out there for all to see in the coming weeks. The NY Times has put out pictures that have never been published with the story behind the photograph [here]. It seems every major news outlet has something interesting to learn. Morgan Freeman has stated publicly that he doesn't WANT a month dedicated to education of Black History because Black History is American History. I agree, it's all related but too much is hidden or untold. Sometimes we need a kick in the butt to get us to do something we NEED to do so.......

I hope YOU take this opportunity to be entertained by TRUE stories of struggling, surviving, and prospering in a society that wasn't (isn't) cheering you on.... Black History isn't JUST slavery and abuse. It IS many victories by many people, many you may never have heard of...
